About

Loco Ropes is a heart-pumping ground, tower, and treetop adventure of over 35 obstacles, or “elements,” located at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in beautiful Mountain View, Arkansas. All aboard for higher adventure in the Natural State!
Mission

It’s an experience where we can each: • recognize & discover who we are & what we’re made of, • heighten our senses, • acknowledge our vulnerability & that of other’s, • gain a greater respect for the value of life, • encourage ourselves & others to complete a challenging & exhilarating physical adventure, with the result of being a stronger person for it, • receive reinforcement, affirmation, & a renewing of our spirits, & • gain deepened bonds with our fellow adventurers.

Description

“Loco” is Spanish for “crazy,” and for many of us, performing challenging feats high above the forest floor is, well, crazy – thinking of doing it only when pigs fly. But fly they must, because as Walt Disney said, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible!”

General Information
TREETOP ADVENTURE
Loco Ropes is a high wire forest adventure for fun loving folks of all ages. Our 3 Loco Lines, made up of 30+ elements, such as ziplines, tarzan swings, rope bridges, and swinging logs, offer challenges from the mildly cautious to the seriously adventurous! Our full course, End of the Line (Loco Lines 1, 2, & 3), takes approximately 3 hours to complete. Our shorter excursion, Short Line (Loco Line 1), takes about an hour to complete. Our Loco Crew equips and trains you to negotiate the treetop course by use of a continuous belay system that keeps you connected to the course’s safety cable wire from beginning to end. Children may trek the course unaccompanied and be supervised from the ground provided they are at least 12 years old and 58” tall. Our scheduled training times are available on a first-come-first serve basis. BOOK your Treetop Adventure online or by phone at locoropes.com, (888) 669-6717!TOWER ADVENTURES
If you’re looking for an introduction into our adrenaline fueled world, try our Tower Adventures: the 300 foot Flying Pig Zipline with a bonus roundtrip cable ride to the tower platform, the 35 foot HotShot FreeFall that cable drops you straight to the ground, and the Planks Peak Climbing Wall giving you 5 attempts with beginner to advance climbing choices. It’s the perfect adventure for those looking for a quick shot of excitement. Our Tower Adventures require no scheduled training and are available on a walk-up basis 7 days/week, March 1st – November 30th (closed Easter Sunday & Thanksgiving Day), from 10am – 5pm.

GROUP EVENTS
At Loco Ropes, prepare to have an unforgettable and empowering experience that will continue to unlock insights long after your Event is over, benefitting both you and your group.
Loco Ropes! (“lr!”) understands that a successful team at school or work depends upon two key factors: leadership and relationships. You, as a group member, will have opportunities to develop your leadership skills, the “l” factor, that goes hand-in-hand with building relationships within the group that sustain it and take your team to higher levels of understanding, cooperation and achievements, the “r” factor. We combine fun adventure in the form of state-of-the-art technology, proven experiential activities, and extensive knowledge in teambuilding models to give you and your team the platform to stand together and the courage and heart to effectively face challenges together.

Stay long or stay short – come to Loco Ropes for an adventure you’ll long remember, talk about, and want to experience all over again!

Mountain Ranch Golf Club

Golflink’s #4 Best-Valued Course in America
Golf Magazines #2 Best Public Course in Arkansas

Ranked the #1 resort golf course in the state of Arkansas, Mountain Ranch is an 18 hole championship layout carved out of splendid natural Ozark beauty. Renowned architect Edmund Ault’s challenging 6,780 yard masterpiece will have you coming back time and time again. Along with the vacation amenities of nearby Greers Ferry Lake and Little Red River, Mountain Ranch offers the finest in family vacation possibilities.

Host of more than five state golf championships, Mountain Ranch is an exciting test of golf. From the back tees, players will be called on to play every shot in the bag. The front nine provides a gentle and sloping introduction to the course, while the back nine requires precision and strategy to navigate a splendid yet dangerous string of holes. The par 5, 14th hole presents an 80 foot drop from tee to fairway. The 15th hole challenges players with an uphill 395 yard par 4 that is considered by many to be the toughest in the state. Players of all abilities will enjoy a round at Mountain Ranch.

Mountain Ranch features a warm and inviting clubhouse with a fully stocked golf shop to meet every golfing need.

The expansive practice range is a perfect place to brush up on your game. .

Golf clinics by our PGA Professionals are available for all guests.

Arkansas’ Best
Kept Golfing Secret!

Voted by Golf Digest as
one of AR’s Best Places to Play!

Carved out of the Ozark Mountains surrounding the crystal-clear waters of Greer’s Ferry Lake, Tannenbaum is actually a peninsula surrounded by water. Every hole is tree-lined and elevation from tee to green changes drastically, especially #12, where the drop is 130 feet straight downhill to a semi-island green carved from the mountainside. The John Floyd-designed course offers five sets of tees and one of the most challenging layouts in the state; it was rated by Golf Digest as one of the best places to play in 2005-2006. Tannenbaum also offers a 10-acre proactive facility with driving range, putting and chipping green and practice bunker. Its convenient location puts Tannenbaum close to world-record trout fishing on the Little Red River, recreation on Greer’s Ferry Lake, arts, crafts and shopping and other nearby Natural State Golf Trail courses.

We would like to take this opportunity to personally invite you to participate in one of the most exciting golf experiences you’ve had. Welcome to Tannenbaum Golf Club & Resort. Once you’ve experienced the joy and fun of one round of golf at Tannenbaum GC, you will leave here refreshed and with an addiction that you’ll want to fulfill again and again! Come and let us help you create memories with family and friends that will never be forgotten! Enjoy the serenity that is Tannenbaum!

The North Central Arkansas Foundation for the Arts and Education, located in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, works to achieve its mission through professional development programs, advocacy projects and collaborative initiatives among artists, arts organizations and educators.
We engage teachers, administrators, artists, cultural organizations and parents in strengthening quality arts education throughout a region that is known for its cultural and educational richness.

Learning and participation in music, dance, theater, and the visual arts are profitable to the development of our children and our communities.
Through advocacy, partnerships, and professional development, North Central Arkansas Foundation for the Arts and Education strives to provide and secure more resources and support for arts education.

The North Central Arkansas Foundation for the Arts and Education recognizes the importance of arts learning both within schools (in non-arts and arts classrooms) and beyond school walls in the community (art centers and museums).
Some NCAFAE participants have a particular interest in educational partnerships among schools and arts institutions.

Within these contexts, core learning in the programs address arts-related issues in educational practices.

Beyond that, NCAFAE participants expand their interests around the arts in education.

Art forms in which NCAFAE participants express interest include visual art, writing, drama, dance, and music.

Biography

Photo of Roten’s Furniture

Roten’s Furniture was founded in 1947 when Robert Earl Roten, an Air Force veteran in World War II who served in the European Theater, purchased a small furniture store and moved it to a building on East Main Street in Marshall. Known to all his friends as Earl, he and his wife Dean began operating their family business in the building still used today. Over the years the family grew and so did the business. Their only son, Bob, was born in 1959 and grew up in and around the store. He learned the furniture business from the ground up! Bob attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and graduated in 1981 with a degree in Business Administration. He married Rose in 1982 and returned to Marshall to help run the family business.

Over the next few years, Roten’s Furniture saw several major changes. Earl retired and handed the day to day operation over to Bob and Rose. New products and manufacturers were added to the store. The warehouse and showroom space were greatly enlarged, staff size was increased and the trade area expanded.

Earl Roten passed away in 1988. Bob’s mom, Dean, continued to enjoy coming to the store every day to “oversee” the operation on the business, greet, and visit with her many friends until her passing on April 4th, 2012. “Deano” enjoyed her time spent at the store in her favorite recliner and will be missed by family and friends. We will cherish our fond memories of “Big E” and “Deano” and will always love them.
