Cassie Lopez Takes Charge at Recreation
Cassie Lopez, the former Fitness Coordinator at the Hart Center, has taken the position of Recreation Manager for the Community Club.
Cassie comes to the Club with a background in exercise science and has always been involved with sports and recreation activities.
“I am very interested in creating more activities for kids during the spring and summer months. We are working on making more use out of the Lion’s Amphitheater in the park. I’m also working on putting together a men’s and women’s tennis league and get more use out of the great tennis courts that we have. I would also like to have a kid’s tennis camp in the summer for the area school kid.
We are currently working on creating more activity at the bowling alley with black lighting and glow bowls a couple nights a week to attract more people around the area.
The miniature golf is doing great and we may just add a glow ball event and tournaments.
I want recreation to be more viable for not only the visitors but for the people in the community. We’ll create some monthly activities throughout the year, said Cassie.”
“I would also like to see Fairfield Bay be considered a fun destination and see people from other parts of the region come and enjoy the activities that we have to offer.
I’m excited about this position and look forward to working with the staff and the community.

Fairfield Bay Recycling CenterFairfield Bay Recycling Center Contact: Recycle Center
Fairfield Bay’s Hippe Recycle and Education Center is open six days a week and manned by resident volunteers. Since 2007, local residents have recycled 2.7 million pounds of materials despite no curbside pick-up. And in 2013, with just a little grant money and a lot of volunteer effort, the city added an educational gazebo to its recycling center.
The Arkansas Recycling Coalition (ARC) held its annual awards presentation at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center, Eureka Springs, AR, on September 30. The presentation took place during the Arkansas Recycling Coalition’s 24th Annual Conference & Trade Show. Each year this educational event attracts approximately 300 reduce, reuse, recycle, and sustainability professionals from around the state and nation.
The Fairfield Bay HIPPE Recycling Center, located in Fairfield Bay, was the recipient of ARC’s 2014 Recycling Education Program of the Year award. The Recycling Education Program of the Year award honors an agency that has made a significant contribution to the advancement of waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability in their community.

Amenities & Departments
The Fairfield Bay Community Club is pleased to offer a wide variety of Recreational Opportunities to our members, please take a few minutes to browse through some of our amenities and visit their websites for additional information:
Fairfield Bay Tennis Center
In 2007, the Community Club began a 5 year program to reconstruct the Tennis Courts at the Fairfield Bay Tennis Center using state of the art materials and methods. This project along with replacement and improvements to lighting and landscaping will return the Fairfield Bay Tennis Center to the prominence it once held as the finest center for Tennis in the region.
The Community Club has rebuilt the main pool at the Bay View Club with a fantastic children’s pool feature. Other major repairs and improvements have been made to the swimming pools at Mountain Ranch and Hamilton Cove. The Championship Miniature Golf Course has been a terrific addition.
We are working to develop a better network of hiking and biking trails in order to utilize one of the major resources, which is the natural beauty of the area.
Indian Hills Golf Course
In order to continue to offer world class golfing to our members, ongoing course maintenance remains a priority. Our future goals include the continuation of the resurfacing of all cart paths, and a plan is being developed to rebuild the greens and tee-boxes on a number of holes over the next few years.
In addition, we are again looking at the requirements to build a practice range with a practice green and bunker to supplement the current “hitting cages”. Ongoing maintenance of our golf course requires a significant and continued reinvestment in equipment.
Indian Hills Country Club
In 2009, there was a renovation and expansion of the kitchen area, adding more room for storage of equipment and tables and chairs. In addition, the Fairfield Room will also be remodeled and some structural changes made to the roof of the Country Club.
Fairfield Bay Marina
The Marina on Greers Ferry Lake has undergone a major renovation. Most boat slips have been replaced to conform with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requirements for proper flotation. The photo at right shows the construction in process, which has now been completed. Other changes will include removing some of the smaller uncovered, less desirable slips.
Public Works Department
We hope to continue to improve on our road maintenance program in the Bay. Over $300,000 is planned for replacement of vehicles and heavy equipment over the next few years. An example of this is the replacement of the road grader at a cost of $180,000.
Bay View Club & Cool Pool
The former Racquet Club has had extensive improvements in order to keep the facility operational.

Fairfield Bay Yacht Club (FBYC) History
Tuesday, November 8th was an important date back in 1988. First off it was the National Elections; but most importantly the formation of the Fairfield Bay Yacht Club, Inc. On Tuesday, October 4, 1988 (1-4 pm) in the Blue Room of the Country Club, (now known as the Resort Offices of the Indian Hills Complex.) Dick Owen called the organizational meeting to order. He gave a short history of the thinking and planning of the FBYC. The proposed general purpose of the club would be to encourage and promote greater use of our boats, the marina facilities, and Greers Ferry Lake.
It was decided that an Ad Hoc Committee would be appointed and the group would be in charge of the formation of our by-laws. To help with the by-laws the Reefpoint Yacht Club of Racine, Wisconsin sent a copy of theirs to help format our own. (To see all the by-laws, see the page “Articles of Incorporation.”) Tom Noll was nominated as temporary Commodore and he appointed the first necessary positions; Fred Cruise as Vice Commodore, Charles Heaton as Events Chairman (known as the Fleet Captain now), and Dwight Landon as Secretary. Dick Owen and Max Nigh were members at large. After the 4th meeting on Tuesday, November 8th, Dick Owen was nominated for Commodore. The Club received 32 paid memberships that evening. The first board meeting was held on November 28, 1998. Treasurer Hatfield reported a total of $320.00 collected. Dues were discussed and the cost was $10.00 per person, per year. The dues covered the following: Newsletter, Membership cards, Officer Ensigns, Postage, Trophies, and Letter Heads. It was suggested to have two meetings. One in November to be a party with the election and installation of officers, and the other in March to explain the activities for the year. The fiscal year would be from November 15th to November 15th of the following year. At the time, all memberships were limited to those who were boat owners or part-owners.
The first year had the following events: spring dinner, Blessing of Boats at the dock of Sugarloaf Mtn. Island, cookouts, poker run, starlight cruise, sunset cruise, cruise and dance on the old floating barge, sunrise breakfast, luncheon, scavenger hunt, a cruise to the Dam Site, fish fry, color cruise, and the commodore’s ball.
We have events from March to December and some months we have 2 events per month.
